New York is where our main office is, at 100 Church Street, 8th Floor. We remove what breaks platform rules, suppress what cannot come down and rebuild what investors, clients and reporters find when they search your name.
In New York City, due diligence starts with a search. A fund checks a founder before a term sheet, a board checks a candidate before an offer, and a client checks a firm before a mandate. One Reddit thread, one lawsuit story or one Glassdoor page can decide the meeting before it happens.
Finance sets the pace. The New York State Comptroller reports that the city’s securities industry reached 207,400 jobs in 2025, the highest level since tracking began in 2000, and estimates that one in thirteen jobs in the city was directly or indirectly tied to it in 2024. In a market that dense, names travel fast, which is why our work here leans on reputation management for financial services and executive reputation management.

What ranks against New York names and firms.
The platforms change from case to case, but these are the results New York clients bring to us most.
Lawsuit coverage that never moves
A story about a complaint or an arbitration can rank for years, even after the case is dismissed. Reports of court filings often have legal protection, so the route is usually an update from the publisher, plus suppression for the rest.
Finance forum and Reddit threads
“Is this fund legit” or “worst place to work on the Street” threads rank fast for firm and partner names. Threads that break Reddit’s rules can be reported and taken down.
Employer reviews during hiring season
Candidates read Glassdoor before they accept. A false or non-compliant review can sit at the top of your employer brand while you recruit.
Founder and executive name searches
A single defamatory result next to your name can create hesitation before a raise or a board seat. We remove the source where we can and build accurate profiles that rank.
AI answers used for due diligence
Analysts and journalists now ask ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews who you are. The answer repeats whatever sources rank for your name.
Intimate images and digital fakes
Shared or altered images posted to hurt someone. New York gives victims a civil claim that can include a court order for the website to take the image down.
Platforms where we protect reputations
The New York rules that shape what can come down.
This is general information, not legal advice. Media Removal is not a law firm, and for a decision about a lawsuit you should speak with a licensed New York attorney.
One year to file, from first publication
A libel or slander lawsuit in New York must be started within one year. Under the single publication rule, the clock for online content generally starts when it first appears, although a republication, such as altering the content, can start a new period. For an older post, removal through the platform is often the only practical route left. [1][2]
A broad anti-SLAPP law
New York’s anti-SLAPP law covers statements in a public forum about any issue of public interest, which is read as anything other than a purely private matter. The plaintiff must then prove actual malice by clear and convincing evidence to recover damages, and the defendant can seek costs and attorney’s fees if the suit lacked a substantial basis. Threatening to sue over a critical review can backfire. [3][4]
Fair reports of court filings are protected
A fair and true report of a judicial or other official proceeding is privileged under New York’s Civil Rights Law. That is why coverage of a lawsuit is hard to challenge as defamation, and why updates, corrections and suppression usually do more than legal threats. [5]
No criminal defamation, but threats are crimes
New York’s Penal Law has no libel or slander offense, so false statements are handled through civil claims. Related online conduct can still be a crime, such as threatening electronic messages under the aggravated harassment law. [6][7]
Intimate images, including digitally altered ones
Sharing an intimate image of an identifiable person without consent, with intent to harm them, is a class A misdemeanor, and the law also covers realistic images created or altered by digital means. Victims can also sue for damages and a court order requiring a website to remove the image. [8][9]
Services New York clients use most.
Most New York engagements combine removal where there are valid grounds with suppression and AI work for everything else.
How much does online reputation management cost in New York City?
It depends on how many results rank against you and whether they can come down at the source or need suppression. For content removal, you are billed only when the URL is verified offline, with no retainer and no setup fee. For ongoing reputation management, the first month is contingent on the strategy we deliver in week one. If you do not see the path forward, you do not pay.
Can you remove a news article about a lawsuit against my firm?
Sometimes. New York protects fair and true reports of court proceedings, so a legal demand rarely works. Publishers do update or correct stories, especially after a dismissal or settlement, and what stays up can be pushed off page one with accurate content.
Is it too late to sue over a post from two years ago?
In New York, a defamation lawsuit generally must be filed within one year of first publication, so for an older post a claim may be out of time. Platform rules have no such deadline, and many removals run through them. Speak with a licensed New York attorney about your specific case.
Should I threaten to sue the person who posted the review?
Usually not. New York’s anti-SLAPP law covers speech on issues of public interest, and a suit without a substantial basis can leave you paying the other side’s attorney’s fees. We use the platform’s own reporting and legal channels instead.
Can you clean up my results before a fundraise or a board vote?
Tell us the date and we plan backward from it. Removals depend on the platform and the grounds, so your assessment gives a realistic estimate for each link. Suppression is an SEO-driven process: many results move within a few months, while deeply entrenched content takes longer, so the earlier you start, the more of page one can change.
Will anyone at my firm or fund know we hired you?
Only the people you choose to tell. Every client signs an NDA, and so do we. We never publish a client’s name without their consent.
