Impersonation accounts
Fake profiles that use your name and photos to mislead fans or ask for money. We remove them through Instagram and TikTok reporting and legal channels.
In Los Angeles, your name is part of the product. We remove impersonation, leaks and false claims at the source, suppress what cannot come down and build the search results casting teams, brands and fans should see first.
Get a free assessmentLos Angeles runs on entertainment and media, and everyone in that economy checks a name before they commit. A producer before a meeting, a brand before a sponsorship, a fan before a ticket. A gossip thread or a fake account can answer for you before your publicist ever gets the call.
Reputation work in Los Angeles often starts with public relations, and PR is built to create attention. Search is a different job: what ranks for your name, what AI assistants repeat about you and which posts break a platform rule. We handle that part quietly, through platform and legal channels, so the fix does not become the next story. We work with clients in Los Angeles and across the United States.
Several sources raise concerns about [Your Name], citing complaints1 and disputed claims2.
The platforms change, but the cases we see from entertainment and media clients fall into a few clear patterns.
Fake profiles that use your name and photos to mislead fans or ask for money. We remove them through Instagram and TikTok reporting and legal channels.
Your name, photo or voice used to sell a product you never endorsed. In California, that can also give you a claim under the state’s right of publicity law.
Private photos, home addresses or realistic AI-generated images published without consent. These cases need fast, discreet action on every platform where the content appears.
A Reddit thread or forum post with false claims climbs page one and sits next to your official profiles. Some come down through Reddit’s own channels; the rest can be pushed down.
A years-old story keeps ranking and gets pulled into AI summaries, so a new audience meets the old version of you first.
The box Google shows for your name is outdated, shows the wrong photo or does not exist, while a gossip result fills the space.
This is general information about California law, not legal advice. Media Removal is not a law firm, and for a decision about a lawsuit you should speak with a licensed California attorney.
California’s anti-SLAPP statute, Code of Civil Procedure section 425.16, lets a person sued over speech on a public issue file a special motion to strike, and the claim is struck unless the plaintiff shows a probability of winning. With limited exceptions, a defendant who wins the motion is entitled to attorney’s fees and costs. Statements about a well-known person can easily count as speech on a public issue, so a lawsuit over a post may end with the plaintiff paying the other side. That is one reason removal through platform rules usually comes first. [1]
Under New York Times Co. v. Sullivan and Gertz v. Robert Welch, public officials and public figures who sue for defamation must show the speaker knew the statement was false or acted with reckless disregard for whether it was false. For actors, artists and creators, that higher bar means many cases are solved through impersonation, privacy, copyright or platform policy routes rather than a defamation claim. The full California picture is on our California defamation law guide. [2] [3]
Civil Code section 3344 makes a person who knowingly uses another person’s name, voice, signature, photograph or likeness on products or in advertising, without prior consent, liable for the greater of $750 or the actual damages, plus profits from the use that were not counted in those damages. Punitive damages may also be awarded, and the prevailing party recovers attorney’s fees and costs. Fake endorsements are a legal issue in California, not only a platform issue. [4]
Penal Code section 647(j)(4) makes it a misdemeanor to intentionally distribute intimate images of an identifiable person in circumstances that cause serious emotional distress, and it also covers realistic computer-generated or digital images. Under Civil Code section 1708.85, a person can sue someone who intentionally distributes private intimate material without consent, and the court may order the defendant to stop and let the plaintiff proceed under a pseudonym. In an executive directive signed in August 2024, Mayor Karen Bass cited Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation data showing that the entertainment industry contributes over $115 billion a year to the region’s economy and sustains over 681,000 people across many professions. In that market, page one works like a press kit. [7]

Send your questionThe price follows the work: one impersonation account is a smaller job than a leak spread across several platforms, and your free assessment prices each item. For content removal, you are billed only when the URL is verified offline, with no retainer and no setup fee. For ongoing reputation management, the first month is contingent on the strategy we deliver in week one. If you do not see the path forward, you do not pay.
Sometimes, but check the risk first. California’s anti-SLAPP law lets a defendant sued over speech on a public issue ask for early dismissal, and a defendant who wins is generally entitled to attorney’s fees. Public figures must also prove actual malice. That is why we usually start with platform and privacy routes, and you should speak with a licensed California attorney before filing.
In many cases, yes. Impersonation breaks the rules of every major platform, and in California using someone’s likeness in advertising without consent can also be unlawful. We report each account or ad through the channel that applies and track new ones.
No. A publicist or PR agency creates coverage and attention. Our work covers what ranks for your name, what AI assistants repeat and what can be removed at the source, so the two can run side by side.
Each platform sets its own pace, so your assessment gives a realistic estimate for each link, and we file the most urgent reports first, such as leaks and impersonation. Results that cannot be removed are suppressed, and that SEO work is measured in months, not days.
