Spokeo Opt-Out: How to Remove Your Listing

Spokeo aggregates publicly available information from third-party sources, such as phone directories, property records, court records and social networks, into people search listings. To remove a listing, you paste its URL and your email address into Spokeo's opt-out form and confirm through a link sent by email. Each listing must be removed separately, and new listings can appear later.

Official opt-out page: spokeo.com

How to opt out

  1. Find the Spokeo listing that shows your information and copy its URL (for example, a profile address ending in a "p" followed by a number, or a payment page URL).

What it asks you to verify

Spokeo sends a confirmation email to the address you enter, and the request is completed when you click the link in it.

How long it takes

Spokeo says an opt-out request should be processed in 24 to 48 hours, depending on the nature of the request and the amount of data.

What the opt-out covers

The tool removes only the specific listing you identify from Spokeo.com and other Spokeo-operated websites, excluding Thatsthem.com, which has its own opt-out at thatsthem.com/optout. It does not remove data from the original sources, and court records are only limited when you email an expungement or sealing order to expungement@spokeo.com.

If your listing comes back

Spokeo says that because it keeps receiving new and updated public records, your information may reappear in a new listing without notice. It recommends checking Spokeo regularly and submitting a new request for each additional listing.

Privacy rights you can use

Spokeo treats the information in its listings as publicly available information that state privacy laws exclude, and offers listing removal voluntarily. Rights to know, correct and delete the personal information Spokeo collects from its own users can be exercised through its privacy page or by calling 1 (877) 864-0183. If you want to request a copy of the public information Spokeo holds about you, do it before removing the listing, because removed data is no longer available for that request.

When to get help

Opting out of one site rarely clears every listing: the same records appear on sister sites and new profiles can appear later. Media Removal handles data broker removal for executives, public figures, family offices and companies, and reviews each case before recommending a route.
