Summaries of each site's published opt-out process, checked on November 4, 2026. Sites change their forms often; the linked official page is the authority. Media Removal is not affiliated with these sites. This is general information, not legal advice.
People-search sites and data brokers publish names, addresses, phone numbers and relatives compiled from public records and other sources. Most offer a free opt-out, but each one has its own form, verification step and limits. This directory links to each official opt-out page and summarizes the process as the site itself describes it.
Opt-out pages at a glance
| Site | Official opt-out page | Verification | Published processing time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whitepages | whitepages.com | Whitepages verifies the request with a phone number: it places an authorization call and asks you to enter a four-digit code. It says the number is collected only to verify your link to the listing and is not resold or used on its site. | Not published |
| TruthFinder | truthfinder.com | You first verify an email address through a link. TruthFinder then asks for your full name and date of birth to locate your report, and confirms the match when you show you still have access to one of the phone numbers or email addresses listed in it. | Not published |
| Spokeo | spokeo.com | Spokeo sends a confirmation email to the address you enter, and the request is completed when you click the link in it. | Spokeo says an opt-out request should be processed in 24 to 48 hours, depending on the nature of the request and the amount of data. |
| BeenVerified | beenverified.com | BeenVerified verifies the request by email and says it uses that address only to send the verification message. | After the confirmation email, BeenVerified says the change appears in its People Search results the next time its servers refresh, which in most cases takes 24 hours. |
| FastPeopleSearch | fastpeoplesearch.com | You confirm the request through the link sent to your email address. The privacy notice states that opt-out requests do not require identity verification; requests to know, delete or correct are verified by matching two or three data points you provide, such as name, email address or phone number. | FastPeopleSearch asks you to allow 3 days for the record to be fully removed from the site. |
| CheckPeople | checkpeople.com | The Suppression Center sends a verification email with a link to proceed. The privacy policy adds that CheckPeople may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before deleting information. | CheckPeople says opt-out requests can take 5-7 days to take effect, and that results may take longer to disappear from search engines. |
| Intelius | intelius.com | You verify your email address through the link PeopleConnect sends, then confirm your identity with your full name, date of birth, and a phone number or email address you can verify. | Not published |
| TruePeopleSearch | truepeoplesearch.com | You confirm the request through the link sent to your email address. The privacy notice states that opt-out requests do not require identity verification; requests to know, delete or correct are verified by matching two or three data points you provide, such as name, email address or phone number. | TruePeopleSearch asks you to allow 3 days for the record to be fully removed from the site. |
| Instant Checkmate | instantcheckmate.com | You verify your email address through the link PeopleConnect sends, then confirm your identity with your full name, date of birth, and a phone number or email address you can verify. | Not published |
| National Public Data | nationalpublicdata.com | The opt-out asks for the URL of your profile and, on the following page, your email address. | Not published |
| PeopleFinders | peoplefinders.com | PeopleFinders emails you a link to the removal form, and the details you enter on the form must match the record you want removed. Its privacy notice says opt-out requests do not require verification. | PeopleFinders asks you to allow 3 days for the record to be fully removed from its site after you submit the form. |
| MyLife | mylife.com | The form requires your state, name, city, ZIP code, an email address checked with its "Email Validator" and your birth year, plus a human check. MyLife says these details help it remove the correct record when several profiles share the same or a similar name, and that it emails a confirmation when the deletion is complete. | The form says requests are processed within the legally required time frames. MyLife's privacy policy says it responds to state privacy-rights requests within 45 days, which it may extend once by another 45 days. |
