Whitepages Opt-Out: How to Remove Your Listing

Whitepages publishes people search listings built from directory and public record data, including names, current and former addresses, phone numbers, possible relatives and property records. To remove a listing, you copy the URL of your Whitepages profile into its opt-out tool and confirm the request with an authorization phone call and a four-digit code. Whitepages says it can only remove information from its own services.

Official opt-out page: whitepages.com

What it asks you to verify

Whitepages verifies the request with a phone number: it places an authorization call and asks you to enter a four-digit code. It says the number is collected only to verify your link to the listing and is not resold or used on its site.

What the opt-out covers

The opt-out removes the listing whose URL you submit, and Whitepages says it can only remove information from the services it provides. It cannot hide your information in databases it does not control, such as public records, and search engines may keep showing cached Whitepages data for up to 30 days in some cases.
